This Weekend at Copper Mountain: Union Peak Festival, Summit UP Run + More

 

Copper Mountain is closing out August with a full weekend of live music, mountain activities and high-altitude experiences. From Friday, August 28 through Sunday, August 30, the sixth annual Union Peak Festival brings together music, art, outdoor recreation and the Copper Mountain community.

Whether you are spending the entire weekend in Copper or visiting for the day, here are a few events to add to your plans.

 

Union Peak Festival Returns August 28–30

 

Union Peak Festival, also known as UP Fest, is a free three-day celebration held in Copper Mountain’s Center Village. The weekend features live musical performances alongside art, athletic events and other activities inspired by mountain culture.

The festival opens Friday with Fresh Fruit! at 3pm and Magic City Hippies at 5pm, followed by a headlining performance from The Revivalists at 7pm.

Music continues Saturday with Tyree Woods at 1pm, Anthony Arras & the MTB at 2:30pm and The Sheepdogs at 4pm. Turnpike Troubadours headline Saturday evening at 6pm.

Admission to the festival and its live musical performances is free. Optional VIP passes and separately ticketed weekend experiences are also available.

Start Saturday with the Summit UP Run

 

Before Saturday’s performances begin, runners can take on the Summit UP Run presented by Mammut at 9am.

Both the 5K and 5K Challenge start and finish at Aerie, located at the top of the American Eagle lift. The standard 5K follows an out-and-back route with approximately 640 feet of elevation gain. The Challenge Course includes rock steps, steeper sections and approximately 725 feet of elevation gain.

Registration includes professional timing, a participant medal, a foot-passenger lift ticket and one complimentary beer or nonalcoholic beverage. After the run, participants can celebrate with Mammut gear awards, brews and music from DJ DC at the Aerie Pop-Up Party.

Bib pickup takes place in Center Village from 7:30 to 8:30am. Participants must load the American Eagle lift by 8:30am for the 9am start.

Take Your Sunday Yoga Practice to 11,250 Feet

 

Sunday begins with Union Peak Yoga and Breakfast presented by Subaru at Aerie.

Participants will ride the American Eagle lift to the Aerie deck for a yoga session overlooking the Tenmile Range. Live music from Ghanay Vahntrese will accompany the morning flow, followed by breakfast at 10am.

Registration includes the scenic chairlift ride, yoga session, breakfast and an exclusive Jade yoga mat. Breakfast features scrambled eggs, applewood-smoked bacon, build-your-own parfaits, fresh fruit and pastries from the Copper Bakeshop.

Check-in begins at the base of the American Eagle lift at 8:30am, and the yoga session starts at 9am. Bring water and a light jacket for the mountaintop morning.

Close Out the Weekend with Mountain Mixology

 

For one final mountaintop experience, head back to Aerie for Mountain Mixology at 2pm on Sunday.

The experience combines a scenic ride on the American Eagle lift with a mountain-inspired cocktail made from fresh ingredients and panoramic views from Aerie. Registration includes the lift ride, a YETI and a cocktail.

Participants riding the lift should meet at the bottom of American Eagle no later than 1:45pm.
