Are you looking for a fun adventure to embark on your next trip to Breckenridge, Colorado? Whether you’re traveling alone or with a group, consider the Gondola and take in the wonders the natural landscape has to offer!

Massive appeal from both tourists and locals has made the free BreckConnect Gondola a popular hit. Its operation started in 2006 and it has been taking people from Park Avenue to the bottom of Peak 8 in the Rocky Mountains. It’s equipped with 121 enclosed cabins that can accommodate up to eight riders. The adventure over the mountainside last 13 minutes allowing people to take in the site.

About the Gondola

At a height of nearly 400-foot vertical lift, riders get to take in stunning views. Just a short 5-minute trek from the Welcome Center at Breckenridge Ski Resort, one can find the North and South Gondola parking lot across from the station. Another option is to ride the Breck free bus, and park in the free shuttle lot.

Operation times for the gondola are seasonal, as it serves the public from mid-June to mid-September. Before the year ends, it opens in early November lasting to early May. The gondola also passes over the Cucumber Gulch Wildlife Preserve and makes two stops along the way.

It first stops at Shock Hill, an upscale neighborhood that boasts amazing architecture and numerous amenities. The next stop is where you’ll find Peak 7. It showcases the Independence the ChairGrand Lodge, and Pioneer Crossing Lodge. The latter takes the riders to the ski slopes. Stopping here gives one access to well-maintained trails for beginners and intermediate-level skiers, several double black diamond places, and open bowls.

Heading to Peak 8 is where you can participate in a wide range of activities. You have multiple choices such as going to the slopes or relaxing at the host of restaurants and bars around the area. You can also go trekking in the snow riding a fat-tire mountain bike. A lot of recreational things are open to you.

Dining and Activities on the Mountain

One of the highlights of Peak 8 is the Epic Discovery. It’s open from the months of June to September. It’s where you can engage in a myriad of activities.

One of these is the Gold Runner Coaster which goes up to 2,500 feet as an elevated roller coaster. You can go solo or ride it with a friend. The best thing is you retain control of the speed while zipping along the mountainside turns and stretches.

There is also a wide array of activities for the kids such as the kid-friendly “Lil’ Flyer Zipline,” “Lil’ Climber Ropes Course”, and “Lil’ Nugget Tubing.”

When you’re hungry, you can also spend some laidback moments at the wonderful restaurants around the resort and take your pick of heavy meals or simple snacks. Sevens restaurant found on Peak 7 displays an all-day menu offering soups, pizzas, sandwiches, and grilled food.

Another restaurant to not miss is the Ski Hill Grill, serving classic American food and BBQ. You can also go for loaded fries and delightful cocktails at Tbar. If you prefer a Philly cheesesteak, set off to Robbie’s Tavern where it’s renowned for serving it. Vegan options are also available there.
