October in Frisco: Fall Hikes, Local Stops & Halloween Fun
October in Frisco brings crisp mornings, changing mountain scenery, and Halloween celebrations on Main Street. If you’re visiting during the second half of the month, there’s still plenty to build a weekend around—from a short hike to a brewery afternoon and trick-or-treating downtown.
Get Outside for a Fall Hike
Choose your route based on the day’s conditions, rather than counting on peak fall color. By late October, snow and ice can change the experience considerably.
Rainbow Lake: Starting near downtown, this trail winds through wetlands, aspens and lodgepole pines to a small lake. It’s approximately three-quarters of a mile each way from the Second Avenue trailhead—a manageable outing when conditions allow.
Frisco Peninsula: For views of Dillon Reservoir and the Tenmile Range, explore the peninsula’s network of trails. Choose a shorter loop or combine routes depending on your time and the weather.
Find directions and trail information in the Town of Frisco’s hiking guide. Check current conditions, wear shoes with traction, and be prepared to turn around if trails are icy or muddy.
Warm Up on Main Street
Start your morning at Rocky Mountain Coffee Roasters for coffee and a breakfast bagel before exploring town. For more local options, browse our guide to coffee shops in Frisco.
Later, stop at Highside Brewing’s Frisco location for a locally brewed beer and barbecue. Pool tables and pinball offer something to do if the afternoon turns cold. Check the brewery’s website for current menus, hours and live music.
Explore Frisco’s History
Add the Frisco Historic Park & Museum to your downtown walk to learn about the town’s past through its preserved buildings and exhibits. Check current museum hours and building access before visiting.
